Zoe's 3rd Birthday Party

This past Saturday, Bryan and I had the pleasure of attending and shooting my coworker, Kelly's daughter, Zoe's 3rd birthday party. This party was amazingly planned and followed a Jojo's Circus theme. Kelly did an fabulous job planning this party to every last detail.

She even had tables set-up for activities to keep all the kids busy. The kids, got to make picture frames, decorate their own party bags, dress up as clowns, and play a bunch of games.

Here's the birthday girl herself. Isn't she a doll?:

Look at all her friends! She's quite the social butterfly for her age.

Here she is with her best friend, Alexia. So precious!

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this cutie! LOVE the hair :)

This was one of my favorites that day:

Let's eat cake! This girl knows how to ham it up!

Oh and don't forget about the presents!

This is another one of my faves at the end of the day of Grandma and kids watching people leave. I love the light in this one.

I don't think this girl is ready for the party to end.. what do you think?

Thank you so much Kelly, Jeremy, & Zoe for letting us a part of your special day. Happy Birthday Zoe!

I know..I'm Bad...

So I've been repeatedly told that I'm a bad blogger. I can not argue with that. I have been. My blog title has finally lived up to its name. Where the heck is Carmen?!? I am going to try to change my ways and start doing something that I have not done enough of...blog and post some pics.

So I've been super busy at work. Nothing exciting, just busy. This company, what should remain unnamed is a really good company. Unfortunately, like all big companies, they find some way to screw you over...it happened to me not too long ago and so let the 60 hr work weeks begin.

Luckily I am married to the most wonderful husband in the world (who refuses to have his picture posted ever). With my first year as newlywed wife draws to a close, I must say I think I have failed and my hubby totally outdid me. I became that crazy driven career woman that I thought I would never become. My hubby has stepped up in every way possible and I could not be any luckier. He's been doing all the things that your stereotypical Joan Clever housewife does because I am being slavedriven at work. He doesn't complain, because he knows that I go through enough at work. I am so eager to get home to be greeted with a smile, hug, kisses and a yummy dinner ready for the both of us. I really think back on my life and wonder what I have done to deserve to have such a wonderful man in my life. I know at this point you are either aww-ing or nauseous from my rambling about my husband, but I don't care. I am sharing this because despite the hardships that I have endured in my life and the crap that I deal with every day at work, I know that I am lucky to be alive and surrounded by such wonderful and supportive people. I only hope that you have at least one person that you can feel so blessed to have in your life.

This past week has been rough trying to balance the pressures of having a good career, being a good wife, being a good friend, being a good daughter, and being a good sister. But in the past week, I have been brought to the realization that the career is nothing to me if I can not enjoy it with my husband, friends, and family. I just wanted the time to say that I love you all. Thanks for hanging in there and putting up with me and being there for me. I promise to be a better friend and not be as MIA.

Now it's time for me to go to bed, right Tyler?

My Not So Secret Other Job

Before I begin, I wanted to give an update on my visit to Olive Garden the other night for their Neverending Pasta Bowl. I only did 4 bowls. I know I know...I need to do better next time right? ;-) But we got a coupon for a 1/2 price dinner on our next visit so you know I'll be back! :)

Well, back to my post for today. Right in the middle of my Olive Garden chowdown, I got a call from some lady that seemed to know me, but I had no clue who she was. She started by saying that she met me a while back when I did some Extra work for her company blah blah blah and then congratulated me on getting married. Um at the time that I did this said Extra work, I wasn't even engaged. It was wierd that she knew I got married, but anyway, she called to see if I was available to do be an Extra for a movie sequel, in which I was also an Extra in the original. One of my friends rented the movie and thought that she saw me, but trust me, I'm not a reoccuring character. Just another Extra :) The bummer was that she wanted me to do it on Thursday originally. Um, normally, I'd say yes if it was a 1/2 decent production and if I could take the day off, but since it'll be my first quarterly meeting that I'll be participating in for my real job, I couldn't say yes. However, she did ask let me know that she could use me Friday instead, which works out because I have already put in enough hours in my job for the week, so SCORE! :)

So that's my not so secret "other" job, being an Extra. To me, it's actually quite a fun experience. I've so far been an Extra in The Replacements, Minority Report, Head of State, The Service (a pilot), Ladder 49, XXX2 (not porn, but the sequel to the Vin Diesel original), Live Free or Die Hard, Rocky Balboa, National Treasure 2, Step Up, an AOL commercial, and now another sequel to one of the movies above. People always ask me if it's paid and since most of the projects above are from big production companies, yes. However, don't expect to make much unless you are a part of SAG (union). And the process to achieve union status is a whole other post all together. Those guys make the big bucks because for most of them, that's their only job and they have paid their due or just got really lucky. People ask why I do it all the time if it doesn't pay that much. Well, duh, the experience (it's fun and you meet very "interesting" people LOL) and well of course the break from my normal 9-5 job. I will say however that I've met plenty of people that are newbies to it that don't care for it at all. All they do is B*tch and complain the whole day. It takes alot of patience because it's LONG hours and alot of waiting and repetition. Imagine having the entire day or week to get all the angles and best shot of a a particular scene in the movie. YUP and most times, they are shotting the same scene for the next 2-4 days. I don't believe everyone has the same impressions on being an Extra. In all honesty, it's not very glamorous, but a very humbling and good learning experience about the movie production business. I've met some great people and even have gotten chances to meet the likes of Tom Cruise, Joaquin Phoenix, Morris Chesnut, and Balthazar Getty. Good times! :)

* Disclaimer: Extras Etiquette 101 says that you are not allowed to approach the actors for autographs or pictures because everyone should be professional because everyone is just working. However, I was very fortunate that I knew one of the production guys (who happened to be Joaquin Phoenix's and John Travolta's wardrobe assistant) and he totally hooked me up by asking them for me. YAY! But if you want to be a good Extra, you should never bring a camera onto set. The production folks can confiscate it or send you home for the rest of the day unpaid, which would really suck.

So I better head off for a good night's sleep (Good thing I'm still up late blogging, right?) since most of these call times are pretty darn early and it's about an hour and a half away. YIKES! It's going to be a LONG Friday for Bryan and I since they called for the both of us. We'll need to break out our urban gear cuz we're going to a club! I love party scenes! There's not much faking involved :) Night all!

The First

So here it is, the first of many posts to come! I don't know why it has taken me this long. Actually, I do know why...I haven't been able to sit still enough to start a new project with so many other projects going on.

This is for my wonderful friends and family who have been pressuring me to start this so that they can keep up with me and my husband, Bryan after our wedding. Bryan and I are such busy bees. Somehow our calendar is always booked at least a month in advance. However, we still end up not getting everything we have orginally planned done! Does anyone else feel that way? Well, we are so extremely thankful that we have such patient and wonderful friends and family in our lives that love us no matter how MIA we can be. We love you guys!

So what's my first post about? Well, it has to start with one of my favorite additictions of course and the new promotion at Olive Garden for the Neverending Pasta Bowl. First of all, I LOVE to eat and I LOVE pasta... need I say more? My brother and I have never missed going to this promotion, well, actually until this year. You see, my brother has been sent to Poland for work for 3 years. You can imagine the curse words when he received the email for the start of the promotion while he was gone. Never fear little brother, I'll make sure I eat enough for the both of us. Well, every Wednesday our group of friends do a dinner at a different restaurant in the DC Metro area. It's actually a great way for us to keep in touch with our busy friends. You can imagine how psyched I was for this week to be the Neverending Pasta Bowl. It's the best promotion ever! $8.95 for all the pasta and sauce you can consume. Ahhh, bliss. Seriously, I've been looking forward to this day for almost 2 weeks...yeah pathetic, I know! Funny thing is that every time I've gone with our guy friends, they always want to "challenge" me to see who can eat the most bowls. Honestly, there's been no contest LOL. One of Bryan's old roommates is still floored that I consumed 5 bowls in one sitting. It was actually 5 1/2, but I think the 5 was enough to make him less a man for not being able to eat more than a girl. This year, another guy has brought on the challenge for tonight. I'm seriously counting down the minutes until I can leave, I can't wait! I'll be sure to provide an update on how it went :)

How should the first post end? With another addiction..my favorite photo I took of our pup, Tyler. Enjoy!
